Time for Change

With wood panelling, a Formica benchtop, and limited storage space, Kimiora’s 1990s kitchen lacked both style and function. It had ‘brown, boring, and basic’ vibes, and Kimiora was more than ready to give the household’s vital work centre a new lease on life.

Kimiora contacted her local Refresh Renovation Director Wayne Gordon and his team who arranged a free consultation at her home to discuss her renovation goals. Since this was her first experience with Refresh, it was the ideal opportunity for Kimiora to learn more about the proven 5-step process that keeps renovations stress-free. There would be no long to-do lists nor any fear of budget blow-outs in store for her. Renovation Consultant Richard Marshall managed the initial consultation and design process, before introducing Project Manager Zoe Blease to coordinate the detailed project scoping and pricing, through to construction and completion, on time and on budget.

Expert Advice

Sold on the fully transparent Refresh process, Kimiora worked with Richard and Zoe to refine her kitchen wishlist and design a fully functional space that looked beautiful too. This renovation was to be a total overhaul, with a design, build, and appliances to deliver a show-stopping result. Kimiora wanted to prioritise increased storage and bench space, along with a bright and fresh modern look. The outcome needed to be family-friendly, functional, and fabulous!

Richard worked with Blacktan design to deliver a concept that ticked all the boxes for a stylish, modern kitchen without breaking the bank. Because a detailed budget was agreed on before any work commenced, Kimiora was able to take on the painting work herself to keep within her desired project budget. Kimiora could feel confident that there weren’t going to be any price rises during the renovation. In fact, the final cost of her kitchen was exactly what was quoted – to the final ten cents!

Transformation Begins

Kimiora said goodbye to her dated kitchen and the transformation started. In just 4.5 weeks, the team removed all the old materials, completed electrical and plumbing work, and installed new flooring and gib, together with the project’s pièce de résistance – stunning cabinetry and benchtops.

The local Refresh team had an established network of suppliers and tradespeople he trusted to deliver top quality workmanship enabling him to pair the right person to each element of Kimiora’s kitchen makeover. Instead of spending hours sourcing multiple quotes and references for numerous tradespeople, Kimiora could relax knowing that the Refresh team already had the professionals to get the job done.

Kimiora’s renovation was a dream, with no delays or unforeseen challenges. Meticulous planning and an experienced project manager meant that she could enjoy every aspect of this exciting renovation experience – including the painting!

A Stunning New Look

Kimiora’s kitchen transformation is nothing short of stunning. Gone is the drab wood panelling and dated appearance: now there’s a stylish and sophisticated kitchen with plenty of space for the whole family. A new galley design has replaced the previous U-shaped footprint and features a stunning marble-look waterfall island made in composite stone . The wide island also doubles as a breakfast bar, and houses deep, square sinks with a designer gooseneck tap.

The other side of the galley space features oodles of bench and storage space, with wide drawers in various depths along the entire length, and a hob separate to the wall oven. Stainless steel appliances along with fresh paint and the bright white cabinetry make the kitchen feel ultra chic and modern.

A Functional Family Kitchen

In a little over a month, Wayne was able to completely transform Kimiora’s kitchen and take it from dull and dated to stylish and stunning. The all-white palette combined with stainless steel fittings and appliances creates a modern look that is light, bright and fresh – a complete contrast to the old kitchen. The new footprint, which features a galley design, delivers far more bench and storage space, making the home’s hub much more practical and family-friendly. Wayne is thrilled with the outcome. “This was such an amazing transformation. The amount of storage we managed to fit in is fantastic, and it looks amazing while being a functional family kitchen”.
